ANFPP nurses and midwives work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families and communities to deliver real results.

They deliver a primary health, strength-based program that focuses on behavioural change and supports women and families through a vulnerable period to impact positive change for individuals and communities.
Nurse Supervisor

The Nurse Supervisor is a leader, coach, mentor and educator. Their role is integral to the success of Australian Nurse-Family Partnership Program (ANFPP). Part of the role includes support and supervision of the ANFPP team, including the Nurse Home Visitor (NHV), Family Partnership Worker (FPW) and administration. The Nurse Supervisor works closely with their organisation to build strong relationships between the ANFPP team, families and the community and works closely with the National Support Service to ensure fidelity to the program model.

The role is supported by the National Support Service who provide education on the ANFPP, and a network of nurse supervisors nationally.
Nurse Home Visitor

The Nurse Home Visitor (NHV) and Family Partnership Worker (FPW) work together as the Home Visiting Team (HVT). The Home Visiting Team visits women in their home during pregnancy until the baby is two years old. This is a primary health role, working from a strengths-based focus. The Home Visiting Team builds a therapeutic relationship to support mums to be the best mums they can be.

Our Nurse Home Visitors are nurses  and/or midwives from a range of disciplines. The National Support Service provides ANFPP nurses with education on the program, giving them the confidence and skill to work with families and  deliver the program effectively. Further training is provided by the local site to enhance this education.

The Nurse Home Visitor is supported by their Nurse Supervisor and national network of nurses to work therapeutically with clients and their families and achieve program outcomes.
