The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) is a registered Co-operative steered by a community-elected board of seven Aboriginal directors and is a leader in the development of culturally appropriate health care delivery to the Victorian Aboriginal community. VAHS’s holistic approach to health care and emphasis on preventative medicine, enables it to provide much more than clinical services to the Aboriginal community. VAHS has been in operation for over 30 years and is steadfast in remaining under the control of the Victorian Aboriginal community, and to its legacy: A Home Away From Home.

Through the ANFPP, VAHS envisages the improvement of Aboriginal families through education, support and linkages with internal and external services; improved health, learning, safety and well-being of Aboriginal children; and strengthening support and improved parenting capacity for Aboriginal parents and their families that is respectful of their cultural identity, to promote Aboriginal child and family well being.

Entry to the VAHS ANFPP is offered to women who are less than 26 weeks pregnant with an Aboriginal child. They must be living within 100 kilometres of Fitzroy and intend to live in the region for the majority of their antenatal care and after the child is born
