ANFPP Organisation
Implementing Services
The ANFPP implementing services are existing health services which have applied to the Federal Government to be part of the program. The home visiting teams are employed by and based at each of these organisations. These organisations will run the ANFPP along with their existing programs. Currently there are four organisations in the program located in Melbourne, Cairns, Alice Springs and Wellington.
Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing
The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, through the Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH), is funding the ANFPP. OATSIH provides strategic oversight and works with the ANFPP Support Service and the implementing services.

ANFPP Support Service
The Australian Nurse-Family Partnership Support Service (ANFPPSS) is funded to provide support to primary health care organisations that implement the Australian Nurse-Family Partnership Program. A critical role of the ANFPPSS is to support each of the implementing teams to maintain program fidelity and achieve the best possible outcomes for their clients. The ANFPPSS convenes meetings between the stakeholders involved in the implementation of the program to ensure that stakeholders can learn from each other and that risks to the program are raised early.
The ANFPPSS is a collaboration between JTA International, Menzies School of Health Research, AusVoc Educational Publishing and Barbara Schmidt & Associates. The Support Service’s role is to:
- deliver training and professional support to the staff delivering the ANFPP;
- establish and maintain supportive professional relationships with community controlled health services delivering the ANFPP service;
- participating in joint-recruitment of home-visiting staff with participating community controlled health services; and
- supporting the building of an information system and an evidence base for the program.
